| EDRAite of the Month - Rutali Joshi |
|
Rutali Joshi October 2018 Rutali JoshiI had the opportunity to attend my first EDRA conference at Raleigh in 2016 as a Master’s of Science student. I am forever thankful to my advisor, Dr. Anjali Joseph, and colleagues at Clemson University’s Architecture + Health program who introduced me to environmental design research. Being an outsider to the research community, I was a silent observer and absorber of all the research that was underway to study the impact of environment on human behavior, especially health related behavior and outcomes. Over the last few years, EDRA has provided me an intellectual platform to share my research in various areas of healthcare ranging from design of domestic violence shelter homes to hospital corridors to design of emergency departments through individual presentations, posters, and the graduate student workshop. The association has only flourished ever since. What I find most exciting is the opportunity to learn from the incredible breath of research presented and interact with fellow students and mentors who work toward making a difference in the world. Going into my next year at EDRA, I am looking forward to connecting with old friends and making new ones, learning about their research and sharing mine with everyone with the hope of strengthening my contribution to the physical, psychological and emotional wellbeing of users through design. |
