The virtual conference will take place on May 19 -23, 2021 from 10:00AM EDT to 6:30PM EDT. The event is broadcast via the Accelevents platform. All registered attendees will receive a link to a landing page and will be able to view the agenda for all days and bookmark presentations ahead of the conference. All presenters will also receive a link and will be able to access their session ahead of time.

The event will include 7 main stage events: an Opening Plenary, an Opening Ceremony; an Opening Keynote, a Transdisciplinary Plenary session, a Closing Keynote, a CORE & Great Places Awards ceremony, and a Closing ceremony, where we will announce the recipients of the 2021 EDRA Awards.

The five-day event features 172 concurrent sessions, including Paper/Abstract sessions, live Posters and Digital Media Shorts, and group sessions, such as Symposia, Intensives, Workshops, and Practitioner/Researcher Collaborations. For the duration of the conference, the expo area will be dedicated to Posters and Digital Media Shorts.

To facilitate networking and community-building, EDRA52 Detroit has created 25 theme lounges to enable attendees to meet in small groups throughout the conference, among them, the EDRA Knowledge Networks lounges, During breaks, 1:1 networking rooms will allow attendees to broaden their connections and make new friends! We have also included 16 dedicated EDRA Knowledge Networks meetings, and the traditional EDRA Members' meeting.

A convenient $50 ticket will give you access to ALL 12 Virtual Mobile Sessions. These events will explore grounded work by Detroit groups and communities who are actively creating ‘just environments.’ We encourage you to purchase a ticket ahead of the conference. To add a ticket to your existing registration, you may follow these simple instructions.

On May 23 the Mobile Session, Baggage, will be free and accessible to all attendees. It includes the streaming of a documentary and a discussion with the filmmakers and artist and will be. Watch the trailer of Baggage here.

EDRA52 virtual platform FAQ

Will presenters be able to access their virtual session ahead of time to rehearsal the presentation and test the virtual platform?

YES - presenters will receive an invite from the EDRA52 event. We are using the platform Accelevents which allows presenters to sign into their session ahead of time.

Will presenters be able to share their screens and present live on camera?

YES - presenters will be able to share their screens and present live.

How will the interaction with the audience function and how is the virtual event organized?

The virtual platform includes the following types of sessions and the related interaction levels:

  • Main stage - presenters on camera, attendees can communicate via chat. This is equivalent to a webinar style set up.
  • Concurrent sessions - presenters on camera, attendees can ask questions live on camera and communicate via chat. This is equivalent to a typical zoom meeting style set up.
  • Lounges - attendees can visit these at any time to meet live in small groups and review materials available in the lounges.
  • 1:1 Networking rooms - these rooms match attendees based on area of research or field for 1;1 quick conversations.
  • Expo - this area of the platform allows attendees to view visual presentations at any time during the conference.
  • Mobile Sessions - this area is only available with a ticket. Presenters on camera, attendees can communicate via chat. This is equivalent to a webinar style set up.
