EDRAite of the Month - Jinoh Park

Jinoh Park November 2018

Jinoh ParkMy name is Jinoh Park, a Ph.D. student in Design at North Carolina State University working under Dr. Traci Rose Rider. My research explores the built environment aiming to maximize occupant satisfaction and economic feasibility. The research aims to align the often-disjointed concerns regarding the satisfaction of resident’s own health and wellness with the development business concerns of return on investments in the built environment. According to my interest and perspective, nowadays I am working on Continuing Care Retirement Community, Multi-family Housing, and Workplace mainly.

As an EDRA member, this year is meaningful for me who joint in EDRA and became a student board member. The last conference was a good opportunity to broaden my lenses and community. I have great opportunities to share my research and life in a Ph.D. program with other graduate students. With such good memories, as the student board member for two years, I would like to establish a student network across institutions to create a collaborative space where interdisciplinary research can be conducted.

Apart from the outlined research interest, I became interested in interdisciplinary design research in higher education after I served as the student body president of the Ph.D. program in Design at the NCSU College of Design. Nowadays, I lead 1) a peer-writing club at NCSU and 2) an inter-institutional research team linking NCSU and Lancaster University (UK).

With these experience and my duties as the student board member, I will prepare meaningful opportunities to engage with peers for students, aiming to motivate them to be part of EDRA as their research homes. I would appreciate if you encourage your students to attend the following conferences. I look forward to your involvements and encouragements.
