EDRA56 Graduate Student Opportunities

EDRA56 graduate student opportunities Each year, EDRA offers graduate students a variety of opportunities explicitly tailored for them. In addition to the traditional paper and poster sessions, graduate students can share their research and receive feedback from accomplished environmental design academics and professionals during the Graduate Student Mentoring Workshop sessions. Moreover, EDRA student members may submit their work for an award or apply for the Nana Kirk Student Travel Scholarship to help offset the costs of attending our conference. Please join us in Halifax this coming May 27 - 30, 2025. Do not miss these events especially curated for you by your friends at EDRA56.

Nana Kirk Student Travel Scholarship

In 2018, the EDRA Board renamed the student conference scholarship in memory of the late Nana Kirk, EDRA member, Board of Directors and 2012 EDRA Service Award Recipient, who embodied the passion and commitment that many EDRA student members have for our social justice, diversity, and equality.

Apply by February 27, 2025!

Graduate Student Mentoring Workshop

The Mentoring Workshop is designed to provide a forum for graduate students to present and discuss their ongoing research with senior mentors in environmental design research and affiliated fields. The purpose of the workshop is to strengthen and further thesis/dissertation work, as well to support the development of networks for young researchers, both with senior researchers and with other graduate students. The workshop will take place on May 27, 2025.

Graduate Students who are EDRA members and are enrolled in Master or Doctoral programs in the Environmental Design and affiliated fields are invited to apply for participating in the Graduate Student Mentoring Workshop.

Students who elect to participate in this mentoring workshop are asked to provide 1) a 250-word statement of interest, 2) a 500-word research summary, 3) keywords, and 4) letter of support from academic advisor. This summary should not be presented elsewhere at the conference as an abstract. Acceptance to the mentoring workshop is based on multiple criteria, including the thoroughness of the preliminary research conducted.
