ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN RESEARCH ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES 2015-2016 BOARD OF DIRECTORS
August 1, 2015 (Madison, WI) Environmental Design Research Association (EDRA) is pleased to announce its 2015-2016 Board of Directors. Gowri Betrabet-Gulwadi, Associate Professor and Area Coordinator of Interior Design, School of Applied Human Sciences, University of Northern Iowa, United States, will serve as the Chair.

ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN RESEARCH ASSOCIATION LAUNCHES CERTIFICATE OF RESEARCH EXCELLENCE
May 29, 2014 (McLean, VA) Recognizing that the tools used to assess academic research do not easily translate to practice-based research, the Environmental Design Research Association launched EDRA CORE (Certificate of Research Excellence) today during EDRA’s 45th annual conference, EDRA45NewOrleans. A pilot program over the next three years, EDRA CORE will serve as a measurement to assess the value of research that goes beyond rigor alone.

ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN RESEARCH ASSOCIATION STATEMENT ON THE PROPOSED NATIONAL ARCHITECTURE ACCREDITING BOARD 2014 CONDITIONS FOR ACCREDITATION
October 31, 2013 (McLean, VA) – The Environmental Design Research Association (EDRA), the world’s leading interdisciplinary organization on Environment-Behavior research, design, and outreach, is deeply concerned by the recently released 2014 first draft of proposed conditions for accreditation by the National Architecture Accrediting Board (NAAB). Originally founded in 1969 by architects and psychologists concerned with integrating people's needs in shaping the built environment and providing a research foundation for design education and practice, EDRA maintains its strong ties to membership within architecture communities, currently serving more than two-thirds of NAAB accredited programs.

As an engaged design research community representing an international membership of leading architects, educators, designers, artists, researchers, landscape architects, planners, policymakers, facility managers, students, environmental psychologists, and scientists, we are voicing our strong concerns with the amendments in the proposal.

NEW ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN RESEARCH ASSOCIATION PUBLICATION EXAMINES TOOLS FOR HEALTHCARE ENVIRONMENTS RESEARCH AND PRACTICE
October 9, 2013 (McLean, VA) - The Environmental Design Research Association (EDRA) and HOK, a global design, architecture, engineering, and planning firm, unveiled a new compendium of research papers resulting from the 2012 research colloquium held during EDRA’s 43rd Annual International Conference. The purpose of this event was to bring together a community of researchers who have been involved in developing various tools to measure both environmental variables as well as outcomes. “Development of Tools for Healthcare Environments Research and Practice” is a collection of ten short essays that were published by session contributors examining tools and metrics developed in healthcare environments as well as other types of settings that may be relevant in healthcare environments research.
