EDRA has implemented a new system for abstract reviews that is intended to enrich our review process and be helpful to authors in reviewing their submission. A copy of the reviewer guidelines is available. These are the guidelines that peer reviewers will follow as their review your submission, and you are welcome to review them prior to submitting your proposal.

Your efforts to address to the extent possible the requirements will ensure that your submission is fairly reviewed and evaluated.

Session Tracks

EDRA49 invites researchers and practitioners to share their knowledge of and best practices for promoting greater social equity in our world today and in the future. We welcome submissions in all environmental design research and practice areas. As you plan your submission, please consider the following tracks, which represent critical areas of focus among many EDRA members. We welcome a diverse range of perspectives from the environmental design fields and their allied professions.

Submissions are welcomed in the following tracks, with suggested domains for each track.

Domains & Methods

Proposals from a wide range of environmental design disciplines and foci are encouraged for submission. The conference tracks listed above are intended to bring together work that is highly diverse in content and context, yet related in impact via the overarching theme.

During the submission process, authors will be asked to designate up to two methods and at least one domain that closest relate to their submission. These classifications help channel your submission to qualified reviewers

Continuing Education Requirements

All authors must provide four (4) learning objectives with their submission. These objectives, along with the topic and the domains, help the conference committee to apply for continuing education credits for specific professional requirements relating to licensing renewal. Additional information will be available on the website.

Submission Guidelines

Submission Requirements

Submissions MUST meet the requirements listed for each submission type. Failure to meet the requirements may result in rejection of your proposal.

CE Credit Requirements

An abstract, four learning objectives, and speaker biographies are required to complete the submission. The final selection of presentations offering continuing education credits will be made by the EDRA49 conference committee and communicated to the authors prior to the conference. More information will be available on the website.

Maximum Submissions

Individuals can only participate in a maximum of three (3) proposal submissions across ALL submission types. Any submissions of authors/presenters over the allowable maximum number of three submissions will be disqualified.

Duplicate Submissions

EDRA discourages duplicate submissions. If you submit a proposal for one category, DO NOT submit the same abstract for another category.

Author Anonymity

To ensure that submissions are appropriately blinded for review, the author's name MUST NOT appear in the abstract.

Group Presentations

For group presentations, the submission must include a summary abstract for the presentation AND individual abstracts for all presenters.

Publication Permission

If a paper is accepted, accepted, the author(s) give EDRA permission to publish the paper in our proceedings. The author(s) must affirm the paper is not under consideration for publication elsewhere and has been previously published elsewhere.

Submission Deadlines

  • Pre-conference Intensives, Individual Presentations, Group Presentations and Mobile Sessions must be submitted by Monday, October 2, 2017.
  • Abstracts for Display Posters, EDRA Shorts and EDRA Virtual Shorts must be submitted by Monday, October 2, 2017.
  • Finished Display Posters, EDRA Shorts and EDRA Virtual Shorts must be submitted by Friday, December 1, 2017.

Conference Registration

All accepted presenters must be registered to the conference by the presenter deadline dates listed in the Call for Proposals to confirm their participation and to be included in the program.

  • Presenters of the Pre-conference Intensives, Individual and Group Presentations and Mobile Sessions must register by January 15, 2018.
  • Presenters of Display Posters, EDRA Shorts and EDRA Virtual Shorts must register by February 14, 2018.

Proposals for Individual Presentations, Group Presentations, Display Posters, EDRA Shorts and EDRA Virtual Shorts will be double-blind peer reviewed.

Authors who are interested in being peer reviewers for other submissions may indicate their choice on the submission form, and will be contacted with additional information.
